I have been following Cat at Budget Blonde for about 8 months now. My girlfriend Krista introduced me to her blog not because I was seeking financial advice but as an example of a successful blogger. After Madeline was born, I was looking for an outlet to share my opinions, feelings, and experiences. I had never been home for such a long period of time. It wasn't that I was bored (because Mads certainly kept me busy) but rather that I was alone. I was alone in my experiences because I do not have many friends with kids. In fact, I am living a TOTALLY different lifestyle from most people in my life. But I know I am not alone- there are so many women out there looking for comraderie and support.
After going back to work in September, I kept up with the blogging. I went from blogging 3 times per week to maybe once or twice. Managing time and energy is difficult (Check out my upcoming post 12/31/14 for more on this topic) ! I am still learning where to put my efforts every day.
I have digressed. Let's get back to Budget Blonde. My girl Cat is a young professional who has transitioned to a full-time financial writer/blogger. Now in her 4th year, she has the whole blogging professional thing down to a T. She now owns two blogs! Not only does she own two blogs but she has a staff! She has hired Kayla over at Red Debted Stepchild to run the blog. Awesome!
Why am I plugging Cat Alford so hard?
Cat is my role model. Plain and simple. She has what I hope to accomplish my 5-year plan. 1) I hope to take my blog further. 2) I hope to become more financially stable.
Today I am talking about #2. I am honored to be a guest blogger on Cat's Red Debted Stepchild. I need to warn you that the featured post includes a great deal of information about my and hubby's financials. If you wish not to know- please do not read!
My (our) goal is to work my way out of debt so that there is nothing left but student loans. Thus far, this has been a lot easier said than done.
I have created spreadsheets and read Suze Orman's books but I am still at a loss. I need help.
How can one live and love life while on a majorly reduced budget?
I look forward to all your advice and support! Click here for the story!
(and a last minute stocking stuffer)
I am so excited to share a review of the coolest food gadget: the Pineapple Corer-Slicer. My life is forever changed thanks to my girlfriend Meryl.
I LOVE pineapple. Up there on the list with strawberries and mangoes, pineapple is one of my favorite fruits. The problem is that I loathe cutting them. I have let pineapples go bad in the fruit bowl from procrastination. I always hope that hubby will just take it upon himself to do it, knowing how much I hate the job. This happens about 75% of the time, phew! (Gotta love him!)
But noooooow I don't have to wait for hubs to cut the pineapple! Or if he does it, it won't be a hassle!
So go ahead, get yourself over to one of the stores listed below and gift this magical device to every pineapple lover you know!
Here is a short video I created to show just how awesome and easy this gadget is:
