things they don't tell you...
I'll say what you're thinking on all things family, friends, food, fitness & fashion.
Cliche title? Maybe a little. But more relevant than you might believe.
I mentioned last week that I bought a house. My very own little slice of independence. On April 15th I signed papers that made me a single mortgage payer and I was off to celebrate. With Tequila. Yep, a few margaritas got the job done. Then the actual work began...
The house was built in 1850. The women in my family are products of my mother's influence, total suckers for old homes with tons of character. I watched my mother completely rehab an 1850 colonial in Belchertown, MA back when I was in college. I never expected to WANT to take on such a project but it just shows how much I have changed since my college days. Although my new home isn't a total redo like the Belchertown home, it certainly has its fair share of projects to be completed. And I am loving [almost] every one of them.
So here begins the journey of a shabby, dirty, floral, undercared for, old lady of a house to an updated space I can call home. More important than anything else, this house is mine- a house for Mads to call home.
There she is. What a beaut.
When I decided to buy a home, I enlisted the help of a friend and realtor who didn't pressure me into making decisions. There was a lot going on at the time and making big decisions was daunting yet difficult decision making was becoming familiar.
When it came to the house, I had to consider questions about affordability, repair and updating cost, solo maintenance, work commute and so much more. Did I really want to take care of the dog, baby, house, and yard all by myself. YES. I absolutely want to do this.
So, moving forward, below is a sneak peak of the first project I'll share with you...
