things they don't tell you...
I'll say what you're thinking on all things family, friends, food, fitness & fashion.
As the baby grows, the items that she needs have changed quite a bit. I recently packed up the Rockaroo which cleared some space in my living room only to be replaced by a much larger play area. The living room officially belongs to Madeline. Here are the items that have become essential now that Mads is a busy little bee.
Exersaucer. Specifically, the Baby Einstein Exersaucer. I have one in my living room and my mom has one at her house as well. It is essential to getting housework or cooking done. Mads will often stay busy in her saucer for 30-45 minutes at a time! She also uses a a jumper, like the Evenflo Exersaucer, at daycare and the YMCA kid's zone. Anything that allows those little legs to kick!
Bounce & Stride Elephant by Fisher Price. I listed this item on Mads Christmas list post back in December. It is totally not a necessity but I can't tell you what a blast this thing is! Mads loves it! It was a gift from her auntie. If you are looking for a gift for a 6-12 month old, I highly recommend it!
Crib Distraction. Mads will hang out in her crib in the morning with the help of of her Bright Stars Toy Bar. It was not designed as a crib toy but rather as a car carrier toy (she loved it in the car, too). When she graduated from an infant carrier to a convertible car seat, it no longer fit so I attached it to her crib. It does the trick! It is a super cheap crib toy at only $11.99. Other made-for-the-crib toys include the Chicco Night Light Soother or the Lil' Critters Crib-to-Floor Activity Center.
These are the things I couldn't imagine living without. Necessities, no. Luxuries, absolutely.
What are some of your favorite infant items?
