things they don't tell you...
I'll say what you're thinking on all things family, friends, food, fitness & fashion.
It has been a few weeks since I last posted because, well, I have felt totally depressed and uninspired. Depressed not in a "feel bad for Dom" type of way, just in the "this is the longest winter in the history of time/ seriously lacking Vitamin D" kind of way.
Danny and I had to miss an old, good friends' wedding in Arizona due to the financial issues we faced this fall and winter. It broke my heart to tell her that we would be unable to attend. We were looking forward to a long weekend away sans baby. Naturally, my girlfriends was incredibly understanding and even supportive.
Things have been getting better. We have made a lot of changes, have begun paying down some bills, and most importantly... saving $. Cinch Financial is still helping me (currently looking into switching banks as Citizen Bank's fees have become outlandish). Cinch continues to be a valuable tool when looking for ways to save money. Note: this is an unpaid/unprompted plug. I just really like what they are putting out there!
So what's next?
$ The Ones Fund $
Back in December, I asked Danny to start a collection for me. I asked him to take the $1's that I brought home from the bar (my weekend job) and hide them. He needs to hide them from me, otherwise the $1's would make their way to Starbucks.
This is just one small way that we have begun to save moolah. Our savings account is savings that isn't to be touched. It is our emergency fund. The Ones Fund is savings for some fun. Like.... a VACATION!
I estimated that by next October we will have enough money to head out west for vacation. Maybe we'll hit up Arizona to visit K&B or maybe we'll fly on over to Vegas- a vacation we have always wanted to do together. Between credit card airline miles (thank you Capital One) and the Ones Fund, the plan is promising.
The Ones Fund doesn't help with the lack of inspiration I feel right now, but it is a step in the right direction.
Every day is another day closer to summer. I am counting down: 107...
At this point, I'll take 50 degrees!!!
For now... I'll buy a houseplant :)
Are you feeling a little under the weather? How do you pull yourself out of your [seasonal] depression?
