things they don't tell you...
I'll say what you're thinking on all things family, friends, food, fitness & fashion.
I don't typically make resolutions but I do have a few goals I'd like to acheive in the next year. The theme of 2015 is "getting my shit together." Seriously. I am sick of my messy house, unfinished projects, tight pants, and empty bank accounts.
Without further ado, I introduce:
Get out of Debt & Build Savings
This has been a doozy of a year. Despite having planned for maternity leave, we were left with very little savings. And then... because things always come up when you are least prepared... the house began to break down. Piece. By. Piece.
I am sick of feeling so darn poor. I am creating a budget that will hopefully help build up the savings account and pay down some of the newly accrued debt.
I read Budget Blonde's posts frequently. She is an inspiration. As a young mom, entrepenuer, and blogger, I look to her for advice and a good ol' kick in the butt. Thanks to my good friend Krista for passing along the link to this awesome resource!
I think it was Cat at Budget Blonde who said that there are only two ways to save money: 1) spend less 2) make more. Well, DUH, Dominique! Now I just need help making one of the two things happen. Or both? If anyone has the answer to how to make more money with doing any more work, send it over!
Finish Home Improvement Projects
You've heard me talk about all of the projects I am working on, right? One of these days I need to actually finish one. Currently the half bath is being remodeled, the master bedroom is without furniture, the basement is freshly painted, but carpetless, and the "office" is still just a hutch and pile of Christmas presents and Goodwill donations, and the kitchen lighting that I swore would be "the first thing to go" is still illuminating that room.
The house has been incomplete since we moved in two years ago. It might now seem incomplete to the visiting eye, but to me, it is a partially complete collection of projects.
I know, I know. I have been saying this for 3 months now. Going back to work has seriously stifled my workout motivation. I am working two jobs and just simply don't feel like working out every day. I'd rather sit on the floor and play with the baby.
But it is depressing looking in my closet at all the clothes that I can't wear. Especially because I haven't bought many new ones to accomodate my new body. The goal is to spend a little less time in yoga pants (unless I am actually working out) and try to fit in my favorite jeans.
I have the diet down. I eat pretty well in general so it isn't much of a diet. I haven't picked up my full-fledged sweet tooth since joining Jess at The Fit Switch in giving up candy for 30 days back in October. My body feels good and I am more regular than I ever have been.
Now that the baby is 6 months, I can bring her to the gym childwatch more often. I think I can, I think I can...
Guest Blogging Here I Come
My last goal is to blog a little more but not necesarily for myself. I want to spread my wings and try my hand at guest blogging. So far in my 6 months of blogging I have done only 1 guest blog post. My ultimate goal is to be a contributor for PopSugar and HuffPost.
I also want to expland the blog as a brand. I am looking forward to a new logo and want to become an everyday read for hundreds if not thousands of subscribers. I think I have a lot to offer!
So folks, there it is: My goals for 2015. In a funny way I think they are all connected. Complete one and the rest just might fall into place. We'll see!
What are your goals/resolutions for 2015?
