things they don't tell you...
I'll say what you're thinking on all things family, friends, food, fitness & fashion.
Part of me is a major homebody. I love nothing more than sweatpants, suishi and wine on the couch. But then there is an exciting, fun, explorative side to me also- which comes out in my travels.
I'd love to travel a few times a year but it isn't financially or practically feasible. So instead, I knock the destinations off one at a time. Near and far, I want to see the world.
I hope to continue having such memorable experiences. So here is my vacation [abroad] bucket list. I'd love to hear if you have been, so leave a comment and some recommendations!
I hold a part-time job as a bartender at a Greek restaurant/bar. The owners are Greek and spent a month there this past summer. A group of friends also spend 2 weeks there in June, in what they describe as away from where the tourists go, because one of them also has family there.
I have no idea where in Greece I want to visit but the appeal of the cliff-built homes and turquoise water call my name. But Athens is on the list too. I am a sucker for history and culture.
OMG, Monaco. What isn't appealing? A beach destination in the French Riviera. It is less than 1 square mile in size. English is one of three spoken languages (along with French and Italian).
A land of Princes, princesses, tropical flowers and a mild climate.
The food is something to be desired. Heavily focused on seafood, the island's cuisine is influenced by its inhabitants: mostly French and Italian. What a mix!
Cosmopolitan capital of the world. Enough said.
Architecture, tolerant Emirati culture, street food inspired by Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine (including camel) and state-of-the-art hotels.
The culture of Dubai is so different from any other I have experienced and there are guidelines to follow as a visitor. My typical beachwear including short cover-ups and sundresses are not recommended as it would be insulting and inappropriate to the natives who are said to approach you if they feel offended by your dress.
But hey, "when in Rome..."
With Florence, I stray from my typical beach destination in order to see one of the most loved and written about cities in history.
The problem with adding Florence to the list is that I would not take a trip to only Florence. I'd rather plan an extended trip to Italy and see a number of different places.
this is a trip my mother, sisters and I dream about doing together.
Australia. SIGN ME UP.
As many college students do, I considered a study abroad program to Bondi University but ultimately decided not to go anywhere. I was afraid to leave the boyfriend I had at the time. Of course I regret this decision but also look forward to visiting it in my adult life.
Flora, fauna, beach. Need I say more?
It is pretty easy to spot my weakness: the beach. Four out of my five choices are located on the water. I love warm weather and ocean water. Someday, I'll move to the South of France, drink wine, read books and walk the streets, eating cheese and macaroons with Madeline.
Until then... I'll continue to dream about the places listed above. If anyone is interested in taking me... I just renewed my passport!
